Overview

The School of Biblical Evangelism is a comprehensive course on the many essential aspects of contemporary evangelism. Its core 101 lessons are designed to thoroughly equip the Christian with everything required to spread the Gospel in today’s religiously and philosophically fractured society.

As Christians, our commission for this world is to “go and make disciples of all nations.” But how many Christians put Christ’s words into practice? Pastors may preach clear, concise, expository sermons but never share their faith outside the church. Believers may boast in spiritual gifts but never speak God’s Word to non-believers. All too often, well-meaning Christians will cite fear of rejection and ignorance of how to evangelize.

No more excuses! From Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort’s popular online course comes The School of Biblical Evangelism. In simple and down-to-earth lessons, Cameron and Comfort tell you everything you need to know about evangelizing to atheists, Mormons, New Agers, those who have put their faith in science, and many others. The lessons also teach you how to perform open-air sermons, how to know whether or not a particular group is truly Christian, creative ways of sharing your faith, and much more!

“Sin is transgression of the Law (1 John 3:4), and repentance means to turn from sin. It is more than contrition (sorrow for sin); to repent means to confess sin and forsake it—to agree with God that it is wrong and to turn and go in the opposite direction.” (Page 111)

“God’s glory, His name, and His goodness are synonymous.” (Page 53)

“Idolatry is perhaps the greatest of all sins because it opens the door to unrestrained evil. It gives sinners license not only to tolerate sin, but to sanction it, fanned by demonic influence. If you make a god in your image, one you feel comfortable with, you can then create your own moral standards to go along with him … or her.” (Page 46)

“Create: Jesus created an opportunity to talk about the spiritual realm (v. 10” (Page 117)

“Convict: Jesus brought conviction using the Law of God (vv. 16–18).” (Page 118)

About the Lessons

Each lesson begins with a thought-provoking quote and a comment on the topic from Kirk Cameron. This is followed by “Questions & Objections” where a common question or objection to the Christian faith is posed along with a response.

At the end of each section are various lesson-enhancing features. The “Preacher’s Progress” segments, written in the style of John Bunyan’s classic Pilgrim’s Progress, are example conversations intended to help convey biblical concepts. The “Feathers for Arrows” illustrations help drive home certain truths when you are witnessing or preaching.

Each lesson concludes with the “Last Words” of a notable person, as well as a “Memory Verse.” The back of the book includes a suggestion on how to commit these verses to memory. The “Questions” following each lesson are designed to help you better recall the lesson content.

I have really enjoyed this study on evangelism. It has really helped to equip me to comfortably share my faith. I only wish that this was available to view on my IOS devices. It could be a handy resource to look up answers to objections in a witnessing encounter. I would give it 5 stars if it was IOS compatible!
