Evans received his Ph.D. from Claremont in 1983 and D.Habil. from Budapest in 2009. Currently he is the John Bisagno Distinguished Professor of Christian Origins. Evans has authored several books, Jesus and His Contemporaries (1995), Jesus and the Ossuaries (2003), Matthew (2012), Jesus and the Remains of His Day (2015), and Jesus and the Manuscripts (2020). He is currently revising the two-volume Word Biblical Commentary on Mark.
