It’s also easily used as a handbook during your regular study. We wanted it to be as flexible and as accessible as possible so anyone could benefit from it, no matter where you find yourself on your walk with Jesus.

Step into the Scriptures

Following the grand narrative of the Bible can be difficult if you haven’t spent years studying the Scriptures. Following the narrative of a single book of the Bible can be just as difficult. With DIY Bible Study, both of these endeavors become much easier.

The book of Acts is a labyrinthine story about establishment of the early church and the spread of the gospel. It bridges the gap between the life of Christ (the Gospels) and the teachings of the church (the New Testament letters). Acts is a witness to the Holy Spirit’s work in the lives of people, the direct continuation of Jesus’ ministry.

Geography plays an important role in Acts, as Luke traces the progress of the Gospel away from Jerusalem out to the “end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). DIY Bible Study gives you the tools to help you understand the structure of the book, geographically and temporally.

This map depicts many of the locations in the Graeco-Roman Empire—the setting of the book of Acts:

And there are so many events to keep track of in the book of Acts, it takes two slides to recount all of them:

Once you’ve wrapped your head around the physical themes of the book, you can start to tackle the theological themes presented by Luke. Acts is an inspirational account of the early church, stirring us to move forward with the work of God, toward the “end of the earth.”
