If you are familiar with only one of the psalms in the Bible, you probably know Psalm 23. It’s a song of comfort—which is why it is one of the most popular passages in the Bible. Even in times of darkness, bereavement, danger, or loneliness, it reminds you that you can know that God, the shepherd, is faithful, generous, good, and loving. God protects us, honors us, and refreshes us. However, the shepherd only takes care of his sheep. The comfort in this psalm is only for those who can say, “The Lord is my shepherd.” The good news is that if you acknowledge Jesus to be God and the Lord of your life, you can know that the Lord is your shepherd, too.
