Overview

The doctrine of the final judgment enshrines many important truths. It stresses man’s accountability and the certainty that justice will finally triumph over all the wrongs which are part and parcel of life here and now. The former gives a dignity to the humblest action, the latter brings calmness and assurance to those in the thick of the battle. The doctrine gives meaning to life. The Christian view of judgment means that history moves to a goal. Judgment protects the idea of the triumph of God and of good. Judgment means that in the end God’s will will be effectively done.

I was pleased to find this small book from Morris that I had never read - as he was very influential in my theological upbringing :) This is a fine little book that covers a good analysis of the words used for Judgement in both Hebrew (OT) and Greek (NT), and then a more thematic coverage of each Testament. I found this quite a good approach and whilst the Scripture passage are a bit dated in their English, it was still easy to read.

It is good to see you are filling in the gap of the biblical studies written by Leon Morris. Please continue this trend. It would not matter if your next announced titles come from the series that originally included his book The Lord from Heaven: Spirit of the Living God and/or Ministers of God. Perhaps you will put on prepublication his volume on New Testament Theology. Maybe you will think outside the box and produce a Lexham title by gathering together some of articles that Dr. Morris wrote for various festschrifts, journals and magazines. Thank you for bringing more of Leon Morris' titles into the Logos library.
