J. Gresham Machen, the final scholar in the lineage of the Great Princeton Theologians, taught at Princeton Seminary for almost 15 years and established himself as a well-respected New Testament scholar. After a dispute that divided faculty members over an emerging modernist theology, Machen left Princeton and became one of the principal founders of Westminster Theological Seminary, where he taught until his death.
The two volumes included in this collection include a survey of Bible history, authored with his college James Oscar Boyd, and his acclaimed introductory grammar: New Testament Greek for Beginners. A staple textbook in classrooms for generations. Machen's teaching grammar was the most used introduction to New Testament Greek in Bible colleges and seminaries across North America through most of the 20th century. With plenty of practical readings and exercises, this text continues to hold value today with its approach to getting students into the text of the New Testament.
