Dr. Newton earned his PhD in Religion in critical comparative scriptures from Claremont Graduate University. He has an MDiv from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University and a double BA in religion and anthropology from Texas Christian University. He has published in top-tier journals and collections on issues ranging from biblical studies to theory and method in the study of religion.
