The catechism remains one of the most important ways of training up people of all ages in what it means to be a baptized child of God. While serving as a means of cultivating the Christian faith in congregations, homes, and schools, the catechism presents the teaching of the Scriptures in a simple way, shaping our understanding of who God is and who we are before God. The goal is always communicating the faith—the teaching of God’s Word—but also forming the way of life in accord with that Word.
