R.L. Bensly (1863–1956) was Lord Almoner’s Professor of Arabic at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge and examiner in the Hebrew text of the Old Testament at the University of London. His numerous works include The Missing Fragment of the Latin Translation of the Fourth Book of Ezra, The Fourth Book of Maccabees and Kindred Documents, The Harklean Version of the Epistle to the Hebrews, and The Four Gospels in Syriac, Transcribed from the Sinaitic Palimpsest.
