The Living Bible is a "thought for thought" translation as opposed to a word for word translation. This is a paraphrase. Its purpose, according to the editors, is to say as exactly as possible what the writers of the Scriptures meant, and to say it simply, expanding where necessary for a clear understanding by the modern reader.
Psalm 17:15: But as for me, my contentment is not in wealth but in seeing you and knowing all is well between us. And when I awake in heaven, I will be fully satisfied, for I will see you face-to-face.
Proverbs 11:24–25: It is possible to give away and become richer! It is also possible to hold on too tightly and lose everything. Yes, the liberal man shall be rich! By watering others, he waters himself.
Proverbs 14:29: A wise man controls his temper. He knows that anger causes mistakes.
Proverbs 15:1: A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words cause quarrels.
Proverbs 19:11: A wise man restrains his anger and overlooks insults. This is to his credit.
Proverbs 19:27: Stop listening to teaching that contradicts what you know is right.
Hosea 6:6: “I don’t want your sacrifices—I want your love; I don’t want your offerings—I want you to know me.
Romans 4:3: For the Scriptures tell us Abraham believed God, and that is why God canceled his sins and declared him “not guilty.”
2 Corinthians 5:17: When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!
Philippians 4:4–7: Always be full of joy in the Lord; I say it again, rejoice! Let everyone see that you are unselfish and considerate in all you do. Remember that the Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. …
