Digital Logos Edition
Because the Bible came into being in a different age, many readers have difficulty understanding its details. A Bible dictionary, defining and clarifying unfamiliar names, places, and objects, is an indispensable tool for the Bible student. Since its introduction in 1957, the Unger's Bible Dictionary has proved its value as an authoritative reference work. Prepared by Merrill F. Unger, Th.D., Ph.D., this volume has been a long-standing favorite among students of the Bible. Today, after years of exhaustive revisions and updates, The New Unger's Bible Dictionary offers up-to-date scholarship. Cross-referencing and bibliographies make this information easily accessible, no matter which Bible translation you choose. Due to copyright constraints this edition does not include photographs.

“SPIRITUALITY. The quality of being spiritual, as opposed to material. Thus theology predicates the spirituality of God (see Spirit). The spirituality of man refers to the immaterial part of his nature. The term is also used with reference to the disposition or internal condition of men when in such a state as prepares them to recognize and properly appreciate spiritual realities. True spirituality in the last sense is the result of the inworking of the Holy Spirit (see 1 Cor. 2:14–15; 3:1, 16, etc.). In an ecclesiastical sense the term is used in the Church of England to denote the whole body of the clergy, with reference to the nature of their office.” (source)
“General. The underlying idea of sin is that of law and of a lawgiver. The lawgiver is God. Hence sin is everything in the disposition and purpose and conduct of God’s moral creatures that is contrary to the expressed will of God (Rom. 3:20; 4:15; 7:7; James 4:12, 17).” (source)
“NT salvation is regarded almost exclusively as from the power and dominion of sin.” (source)
“By the vine our Lord symbolizes the spiritual union existing between Himself and believers (John 15:1–6), unfruitful branches being mere professors.” (source)
“for in Him all the fulness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete” (source)
