“If the Bible is not inspired in the strictest sense of the word then it is worthless, for it claims to be God’s Word, and if its claims are spurious then its statements are unreliable and its contents are untrustworthy. If, on the other hand, it can be shown to the satisfaction of every impartial inquirer that the Bible is the Word of God, inerrant and infallible, then we have a starting point from which we can advance to the conquest of all truth.” (source)

“This argument may be simply and tersely stated thus—Man needed a Divine revelation couched in human language. God had previously given man a revelation of Himself in His created works—which men please to term ‘nature’—but bears unmistakable testimony to the existence of its Creator, and though sufficient is revealed of God thro’ it to render all men ‘without excuse,’ yet creation does not present a complete unveiling of God’s character. Creation reveals God’s wisdom and power, but it gives us a very imperfect presentation of His mercy and love. Creation is now under the curse; it is imperfect, because it has been marred by sin; therefore, an imperfect creation cannot be a perfect medium for revealing God; and hence, also, the testimony of creation is contradictory.” (source)

“In a word then, the testimony of nature is conflicting, and, as we have said, this is due to the fact that sin has come in and marred God’s handiwork. Creation displays God’s natural attributes but it tells us little or nothing of His moral perfections. Nature knows no forgiveness and shows no mercy, and if we had no other source of information we should never discover the fact that God pardons sinners. Man then needs a written revelation from God.” (source)

Arthur Walkington Pink

A. W. Pink (1886–1952) pastored churches in the United States and Australia for most of his working life. At the age of 24, Pink experienced an evangelical conversion and crossed the Atlantic from Great Britain to study at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. But after only six weeks, he left to take up a pastoral ministry during which he found his way to a strictly Calvinistic position in theology.

In 1922, Pink produced a monthly magazine entitled Studies in the Scriptures which circulated among English-speaking Christians worldwide. Pink devoted his life to the study and exposition of the Scriptures and became the author, also under the name Arthur Walkington Pink.

Articles, books, tracts, and pamphlets, including the notable Exposition of Hebrews and The Nature of God, can be found in the A. W. Pink Collection (40 vols.). Also available from Logos are The Godhood of God, Why Four Gospels?, The Divine Inspiration of the Bible, and The Law and the Saint.

Originally published in 1917, this book reads closer to a modern day primer on the topic of apologetics of the subject of The Bible. Pink offers proofs such as fulfilled prophecy, inner harmony, uniqueness, and even some presuppositional arguments. Pink definitely writes for a different time and his style isn't just cover topic A and here are six proofs. Written within each chapter is a Gospel call to the reader. So this feels more like an evangelical book than one on apologetics. As such, the tone is different than what you might have read in "The Sovereignty of God". If you've stepped into basic Christian apologetic readers before, there isn't much new here. However, Pink's style is very fluid and each pay cries out a Gospel plea of accepting Jesus Christ as God and Savior. Final Grade - B
