Top Highlights

“When a goat was killed, its skin was often impregnated with fat and sewn up to become a water carrier (a goatskin bottle).” (source)

“Mark 2:4; Luke 5:19. It has often been assumed that the four friends who brought their paralytic friend to Jesus broke through the mud and brushwood roof to let him down. This assumes that the roof was easily repaired. The tiles Luke refers to would then be sun–baked mud. But Luke was writing to a Roman who knew about Roman tiling. It is therefore more likely that Jesus was talking under a colonnade/veranda attached to the house, and that the friends, having gained access to the roof, stripped off some of the tiling of the colonnade.” (source)

“It became a custom that part of the dowry should form a circlet of coins that were attached to the woman’s head dress. They became a symbol like a wedding ring, and therefore the loss of such a coin (Luke 15:8–10) would be the cause of a great deal of anxiety. As part of the marriage agreement, the bride’s father would make a marriage gift (dowry) to his daughter (Genesis 24:59–61; Judges 1:12–15).” (source)

“The bride and groom looked like and acted like a king and queen” (source)

“It is a nice story but not true in biblical terms.” (source)

The most recent print edition is October 1, 2005, which makes the 1987 edition offered by Logos outdated by 18 years. Besides the lack of graphics mentioned in other reviews, is there a reason for this significant time gap? I'd love to have this textbook as a resource in my Logos 10 Library, but to pay for such an outdated and incomplete digital copy is a bit much, don't you think?

My 1987 paperback edition is the updated edition with the same cover design as Logos has. It also has all the colorful illustrations, pictures, and maps. However, my Logos edition that is based on the 1987 print edition has none of the graphics. Very disappointing! I consider the many images and illustrations in the print edition highly valuable.

Good but I wish it was the updated version with all the pictures like the printed version.
