Overview

Jesus Christ hand-picked common, uneducated men to build his church (Acts 4:13). Several were fishermen. One was a tax collector. All of them could be labeled “ordinary.” Yet under their leadership, the church flourished while the world stood amazed. Today, the church looks to “trained professionals” to do the work. Lay people who have tremendous potential are made to feel inadequate by the religious elite. Many are paralyzed, believing that they don't know enough to be of much help. They sit silently in church services and watch the educated minister. This was never God’s intention. Too many Christians are intimidated by the thought of speaking to others about Jesus. Most feel like they don’t know enough to lead others. Francis Chan’s Multiply was written to change this.

In the Logos editions, this valuable volume is enhanced by amazing functionality. Top Highlights

“ Do you really believe that Jesus is your master? Do you believe that He is your owner—that you actually belong to Him?” (Page 20)

“Paul saw the church as a community of redeemed people in which each person is actively involved in doing the work of ministry. The pastor is not the minister—at least not in the way we typically think of a minister. The pastor is the equipper, and every member of the church is a minister.” (Page 34)

“While every individual needs to obey Jesus’s call to follow, we cannot follow Jesus as individuals. The proper context for every disciple maker is the church. It is impossible to make disciples aside from the church of Jesus Christ.” (Page 51)

“The call to be a disciple of Jesus Christ is open to everyone, but we don’t get to write our own job description. If Jesus is Lord, then He sets the agenda. If Jesus Christ is Lord, then your life belongs to Him. He has a plan, agenda, and calling for you. You don’t get to tell Him what you’ll be doing today or for the rest of your life.” (Pages 20–21)

“The Great Commission uses three phrases to describe what disciple making entails: go, baptize people, and teach them to obey everything Jesus commanded.” (Page 31)

Multiply is a simple, practical, biblical, helpful, and personal tool for disciples of Jesus who want to make disciples of Jesus.

I just noticed this resource has been updated with "answer boxes". This is a fantastic feature. I was really hoping for this update. Strangely, however, I now have two versions of Multiply in my library, one version with the "answer boxes" and one without.
