Digital Logos Edition
Chapters 6, 7, and 8 of Romans have been labeled by some as the Divine Sandwich. Some have said that Romans, Chapter 6 is the mechanics of the Holy Spirit, which tells us how He works. It is also stated that Romans, Chapter 8 is the dynamics of the Holy Spirit, which tells us what the Holy Spirit does within our lives, after we understand from Chapter 6 how He does it. This volume contains a verse-by-verse study of Romans Chapter 7 and an in-depth look at the Law of the Spirit.
“Unfortunately, most Believers have been taught to oppose sin, when in reality that is only dealing with the symptoms. It is the sin nature that is the cause of the problem.” (Page 51)
“The idea of all of this is, if the Believer doesn’t function according to God’s Prescribed Order, which is the Cross of Christ and our Faith in that Finished Work, he will find the sin nature controlling him exactly as it did before he was Saved, and perhaps even worse. This is very confusing to many Christians, even as the next Verse proclaims.” (Page 88)
“‘A logical contrast which suggests that the distinction here is made between the Holy Spirit as the new method of Divine dealing and the Law, which was God’s old method. Paul’s thought here is not that the Believer serves in a new spirit, that is, in a new attitude and with new motives, but that he serves now in the power of the Holy Spirit, under a new energy and control, rather than in an attempt to obey an objective Law.’” (Page 42)
“‘For he said, Because the LORD has sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation. (Amalek was to dwell in the land, but not to reign in it. Romans 6:12 says, ‘Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal bodies.’ The command would be unmeaning if the sin nature were not existing in the Christian. The sin nature dwells in a Believer, but dwells and reigns in an unbeliever)’ (Ex. 17:8–16).” (Page 97)
“The moral is, if you will place your Faith in Christ and the Cross, refuse to allow it to be moved, do not give place to Satan, not for one moment, there may be a battle and, no doubt, will, but victory is certain. You have the guarantee of the Word of God (Rom. 6:1–14, 8:1–2, 11; I Cor. 1:17–18, 21, 23, 2:2; Gal., Chpt. 5, 6:14; Eph. 2:13–18; Col. 2:14–15).” (Page 55)
