At some point every Christian will experience a satanic attack-a willful, determined assault by the Devil to harm our spirit, soul, or body. God wants Christians to be under His control, but the Enemy will do his best to destroy everything good in our lives. So the question is not how to avoid satanic attacks, but how to overcome them.
Satan is a very powerful adversary. However, God does not leave us to defend ourselves, and He wants us to understand His supernatural and unlimited ability to help us. Dr. Stanley will show readers how to achieve victory by:
Spiritual warfare is fought every day on the battlefield of your mind. The Adversary knows that if he can direct your thinking, it's only a matter of time before you're vulnerable to the allure of sin. Dr. Stanley teaches that to stand against Satan's attacks, you must meditate upon biblical principles and arm yourself with the sword of the spirit-God's Word.
“If a person doesn’t believe in the devil, he’ll never seek to understand the traps he continues to fall into. He’ll never seek to understand how to conquer the negative, debilitating, addictive, downward spiral of temptation. He’ll never understand how to keep from yielding to temptation. He’ll never learn how to overcome guilt or deal with low self-worth, both of which weaken a person and make him even more susceptible to temptations and attacks.” (Page 10)
“You will never fully eliminate the devil’s temptation from your life. No matter how mature you may become spiritually, he still has access to you.” (Page 14)
“Lie #3: God gets weary of people who sin and repent repeatedly, and He eventually stops forgiving their sins.” (Page 43)
“We cannot defeat the devil by human intellect, cleverness, or force of personality. Defeating the devil is the work of Jesus Christ alone, and that work has been accomplished on the cross.” (Page 19)
“But if you understand that God is in control of all things and that life is unfolding according to His master plan and purpose, then you have to look at what happens in your life and conclude, ‘God knows all about this. He has allowed this to happen. God is in control of all outcomes. He has a way through this difficulty and a good result at the end of this dark tunnel. God is at work, fashioning all things to His glory. He is going to work all things for my eternal benefit.’” (Page 22)
