This volume looks at the Third Great Awakening, one of the most exciting times in the history of American Christianity. A. B. Simpson's impact on the Third Great Awakening and his influence on the modern church is examined. Emphasis is placed on the denomination he founded, the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Simpson's message, the Fourfold Gospel, is also explored. The Fourfold Gospel is: Christ as the Christian's Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King. The denomination Simpson founded took this message not only to North America, but also throughout the world. Five movements made up the Third Great Awakening and Simpson's contribution to each one is examined. These five movements include: Evangelizing, Holiness Movement, Healing Movement, Pre-millenial Movement, and Urban and Worldwide Outreach. As this book concludes with a look at Simpson's influence on the church today, we are reminded that as the church goes through the twenty-first century, the Fourfold Gospel continues to be proclaimed just as it was during the Third Great Awakening.
"Dr. Yount's study is a must-read for anyone entering the
ordination process or becoming an international worker in the
Christian & Missionary Alliance. Yount carefully describes how
and why the spiritual DNA of the founder began in New York City in
the late nineteenth century, and why it has grown to more than 6
million followers of Christ worldwide."

Metropolitan region of the Christian & Missionary
Alliance
"Of all the men used by God to shape the evangelical church in late
nineteenth- and early twentieth-century America, Albert Benjamin
Simpson is today one of the least remembered. Dr. Yount has done us
a great service in reminding us of Simpson's enormous
contributions. May God raise up 'another like unto him!'"
--John Soper, former Vice President for Church Ministries,
Christian & Missionary Alliance; Senior Pastor, Ridgeway
Alliance Church, White Plains, NY. Author and presenter of internet

"A. B. Simpson's impact on the Third Great Awakening was profound,
yet little known beyond the denomination to which he helped give
birth. This wonderful study by Michael Yount helps correct that
neglect and makes Simpson's life, ministry, and impact accessible
to a larger audience. This excellent addition to American Christian
history and revival studies will be welcomed by scholars, students,
and laypeople everywhere."
