The Hiding Place is the inspiring story of Corrie ten Boom's life starting in the Netherlands shortly before the Nazi occupation. The book follows ten Boom as she moves from her position in a respected family of watchmakers to resisting Nazi takeover.
The courage of the ten Boom family's decision to harbor Jews from the Nazis will inspire readers, who will then see how God's grace and love can penetrate even the darkest places, even in the grimmest days.
Chuck Colson wrote, "One of the most remarkable stories of one of the most remarkable women I've known. I recommend it most enthusiastically."
Join the thousands of readers this book has already encouraged and be reminded that God's grace penetrates even the darkest places.
Corrie ten Boom's The Hiding Place instructs through example. While the question of theodicy haunts many people, reading about God's goodness and faithfulness in the depths of the worst of human sin can help the reader better understand how God works amongst such evil. This question can be challenging to grapple with, but what has made ten Boom's book a classic and a best seller is that she has lived this question of theodicy.
The reader will learn about her life before the rise of Nazism in Germany, see her life unfold during the war, and learn how she recovered and ministered after the fall of Nazism.
While ten Boom's well-known phrase, "There is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still," has inspired many, it can seem difficult to live by it. However, this inspiring story invites the reader to learn that this is not just a trite saying but something ten Boom lived sacrificially, showing the truth of this statement.
As Joni Erickson Tada notes, "If God's grace could sustain Corrie in that concentration camp, then His grace is sufficient for you. With His help, you can survive. And, Corrie would say, you will." For ten Boom, the reality of God's grace was not merely a theory but lived, and the reader will get a chance to see this grace displayed.
