Butler explores Hebrews 11, "Faith's Hall of Fame," a chapter written to encourage us "that no matter who you are or what your situation is, you can and should live by faith." Butler examines these heroes of the faith in the following chapters:

“Enoch’s history ends with a conveyance to glory apart from death. Lamech’s history ends with his confession of guilt to his two wives of a murder he had committed. The difference in the two is that one walked by faith while the other walked by flesh.” (Page 41)
“By faith Enoch was translated.’ Faith was the root cause for the parting but in a different sense than some may think. The faith that Enoch had, which resulted in his unique parting, was not faith in a Divine revelation from God that he was going to have this unique parting. Rather Enoch’s faith produced a holy lifestyle that greatly pleased God (‘he pleased God’ [Hebrews 11:5])—and it was this pleasing of God which resulted in the unique parting of Enoch to heaven.” (Page 42)
“Genesis and speaks of the path of faith. Twice the Genesis text on Enoch tells us that Enoch walked with God. If you are going to please God, you will be walking with God. Walking with God means you will practice the presence of God (God will be an integral part of your thoughts, devotion, and interests), walk at the same pace as God (perhaps the hardest thing to do in walking with God—we too often want to run ahead or lag behind), and walk according to the precepts of God (we walk according His commands in His Word).” (Page 51)
“Faith in what God has declared gives the soul absolute assurance and firm conviction of the reality of things which the natural eye has never seen’ (Ironside). Thus, to believe the Word of God about heaven is to have proof of that which is not seen as yet. To believe the Word of God is to possess the proof. The proof is always there, but you do not possess it unless you exercise faith in the proof.” (Page 20)
