John has written a very practical guide for one-on-one discipleship using the Word of God. He identifies and demonstrates many practices that help one meet God in the Scriptures and illustrates how they might be applied by tracing these practices in the lives of two fictional characters. Their discussions open the door to many questions people encounter when using the Bible and offers practical answers. This is a very helpful tool for Quiet Times and Bible-based discipleship.

—The Rt. Rev. Dr. Mark Zimmerman, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the Southwest

John Linebarger has written an engaging and informative work on the devotional use of the Bible within an evangelical context. It is engaging and slips past one’s defenses because it is embedded in a realistic narrative of a pastor’s wife who is mentoring a new convert. It is evangelical Protestant insofar as that is the religious language used, that is the choice of biblical translations, that is the choice of reading methods and hermeneutical tools, and that is the group for whom the Scriptures are the means God uses to speak to us. It is also up-to-date in that it uses journaling and Lectio Divina, as understood within that world. This is a book that one could hand to a new convert. This is a book that one might read oneself for a ‘refresher’ on the basics. It is realistic, warm, and approachable. I recommend it for those evangelical Protestants wishing to grow in their spiritual life

—Rev. Peter H. Davids (PhD), New Testament Editor, Word Biblical Commentary

Meeting God in the Bible is a fun, engaging, and practical guide for how to grow in your relationship with Jesus. Along the way, John also gives great vision for how to lead others into a growing relationship with Jesus. This book is a wonderful discipleship tool for new and seasoned believers alike.

—Chad Francis, Lead Pastor of Hope Church, Albuquerque, NM
