One of the greatest needs in the church around the world is for a deeper understanding of the doctrines of our faith. Far too many people have been led to Christ but never taught the foundational truths of the Bible. Br. Guy P. Duffield and Dr. Nathaniel M Van Cleave wrote Foundations of Pentecostal Theology to help meet that need. The text is written in clear, understandable language and can be used to introduce new believers to these truths or serve as a textbook for systematic theology courses in seminaries, Bible colleges, church institutes or Bible classes.
These study guides provide a series of questions designed to guide the reader toward many but certainly not all, of the most important ideas presented by Drs. Duffield and Van Cleave. The questions follow the structure of the Foundations of Pentecostal Theology, chapter by chapter and section by section. Page numbers are noted beside each question to direct the student to the answer provided by the authors. This allows the student to place the study guide beside himself or herself while reading the textbook. It also assists teachers who wish to refer to a question during a discussion in the classroom. Hopefully, these questions will stimulate much discussion and provoke further research on topics of special interest.
Foundations of Pentecostal Theology, Revised & Updated (2 vols.) is also now available.
Guy P. Duffield (1909-2000) spent more than 50 years in ministry as a pastor and teacher. He has brought to this work a lifetime of study, research and teaching. Dr. Duffield was directly involved in doctrinal training and developed great proficiency in the ability to explain complex truths in understandable language. In addition to writing numerous articles, booklets and syllabi, Dr. Duffield authored two other books, Pentecostal Preaching and Handbook of Bible Lands.
Nathaniel M. Van Cleave (1907-2002) was a teacher, pastor, mkissionary, theologian, and expository preacher. Gifted by God with unusual ability, Dr. Van Cleave devoted himself to preaching and teaching the Word for more than 50 years. He was fortunate to have his life influenced by the ministry of many significant Pentecostal preachers of the Gospel, and his relationship with them during the first generation of the pentecostal outpouring in North America is part of the important qualification that he brought to the authorship of Foundations of Pentecostal Theology. Dr. Van Cleave’s book, Handbook of Preaching, has been reprinted numberous times and translated for use in many training centers around the world.
