Knowing Him by Name is a book of 336 short devotional readings based on the names and references to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The names of God reveal details about his character. A person knowing these names, and the context in which they occur in Scripture, will be able to better understand the nature of God. The aim of every Christian should be to increase our knowledge of God. In turn, what we know about God should help transform us into his likeness as we apply these insights to our lives.
“Knowing Him by Name exposes us to the glorious nature of
our Triune God. Short devotional explanations of the biblical names
for God, coupled with reflective thought-starters, prompt us to
contemplate important implications for our own lives. Dr. Larking
reaffirms the loving heart of God, the depths of his grace toward
us, and the veracity of the faith we profess as Christians. I
recommend this valuable resource to anyone who desires to know God
more.”

“As a teacher and church musician I understand the importance of
truly understanding a person’s character. This builds stronger
relationships and inspires honest self-reflection that can then be
reapplied to our own lives. These short, easy-to-read devotionals
help us to worship and reflect on a deeper level. Lewis’
prayer that we may ‘know him more’ is answered. A must
read for students, worshipers, and all who want to know God more
deeply.”
—Margaret Jennings, Head of Prep Music, Ipswich High School

“There is no greater thing than to know God. But to know him, we
need to know his character. Dr. Larking helps us do just that by
looking at the various names for the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Spirit. Informative and interesting, these short devotions provide
readers with a multifaceted view of God’s character. However,
knowing God is more than being informed; to know him is to
experience him, that is, to experience his character. Through brief
reflections Larking provides practical encouragement and
opportunities to experience God’s character in our lives. Those who
make use of these devotions will find their souls and minds
continually challenged and refreshed.”
