Overview

Why study other men’s sermons? A legitimate. important and timely question. Homiletics professors rightly decry the tendency to copy the exegesis and thrust of others. However, every pastor or pastoral student can gain great profit from the study of other men’s sermons if the goal of that study is personal improvement not plagiarism. The purpose of Sermon Analysis is just that: growth and learning for increased pulpit power. By focusing on the style and methods of others, your own unique style of preaching will be strengthened. Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, “I have milked many cows, but I have made my own butter.” The goal of this book is to help you become a better dairyman.
