Overview

In this little booklet, George Ridout describes seven facets of the Beauty of Holiness: • The Beauty of Holiness is the Beauty of Purity. • The Beauty of Holiness is the Beauty of Unity. • The Beauty of Holiness is the Beauty of Humility. • The Beauty of Holiness is the Beauty of Christlikeness. • The Beauty of Holiness is the Beauty of Consecration. • The Beauty of Holiness is the Beauty of Love. • The Beauty of Holiness is the Beauty of Perfection. In each of these topics, Ridout, explains in an easy-to-understand style, the scope of the Beauty of Holiness and how to obtain it. About the Author George Whitefield Ridout was rather modest as a writer. He did not even bother to place his name on some of his books. It took researchers a bit of investigation to figure out that he wrote The Witness Of The Spirit. Rideout was born in St. John's Newfoundland. He went to Boston, Massachusetts, as a young man and was educated at Temple University. He served as Professor of Theology at Upland, Indiana. Ridout served as Chaplain with the 38th Regiment in France during World War I. Following the war he accepted the Chair of Theology as Asbury College where he remained until 1927.

“Let it be remembered sin is cleansed, not outgrown. The remains of depravity must be removed from the soul by faith in the atonement and not supplanted by a new nature. In fact, the weeds will choke the growth of the wheat. The remains of the carnal mind will hinder the development of the spiritual nature. The energies which should be spent in working for Christ are used in watching, and chaining, and keeping the old self subdued and in prison, when he ought to be slain and buried, and then these guards could do active duty for God and humanity. The soul is exhausted in this dreadful struggle with self.” (Page 8)

“Holiness is a participation of the divine nature, a seed of divinity. ‘His seed remaineth in him.’” (Page 4)

“Sanctifying grace is that by which the soul enjoys God, abounds in His love and becomes more and more like Him—like Him in love, in humility, in sinlessness, in purity, in holiness—‘We shall be like Him.’” (Pages 4–5)

“Traitors within the heart are more to be feared than the foes without.’” (Page 9)

“there must be the dying out of the self4-life-pride, self-sufficiency and self-importance.” (Page 20)
