Overview

A Modern Grammar for Biblical Hebrew is a complete revision of Duane Garrett’s respected 2002 release originally entitled A Modern Grammar for Classical Hebrew. In addition to the revisions and contributions from new coauthor Jason DeRouchie, the book now includes the answer key for an all-new companion workbook and an updated vocabulary list for second year Hebrew courses.

Just adding that I too found a significant amount of grammar and spelling mistakes in this book (I assume they are spelling mistakes in this electronic version and not the original). They are not enough mistakes to make this not useful but more than enough to be disturbing and throw someone off significantly for a couple of vocab words and paradigms. I was using it for Seminary Hebrew 1 and Hebrew 2 classes, so I have been reporting every typo as I go. I hope they take these notes seriously and correct it. Judging by other reports over a year ago I am concerned that maybe they have not. Hopefully soon! As a Grammar on Biblical Hebrew it is okay, though I prefer Pratico and Van Pelts Basics of Biblical Hebrew as being more clear, having a better learning order, being more user-friendly, and having a better approach to memorization.

There are **several** mistakes in the Logos version of this book. If you *do* get this edition, be sure to get the physical book as well and keep a very close eye on the spelling.

Two things made me get this resource: the word "modern" which raise a hope that this is a revision of the "not-so-modern", "older" hebrew grammar, and the information that this is "a complete revision of Duane Garrett’s respected 2002 release originally entitled A Modern Grammar for Classical Hebrew". Opening the book I found no introduction at all of what the authors meant by "modern grammar", nor "complete revision", and nor the different between 'classical' and 'biblical'. The list of chapters do not show any different than the older hebrew grammar textbooks, so hope is rather blown away..
