Digital Logos Edition
In Biblical Themes John P. Davis seeks to present a overview of themes that are central to biblical theology. In Scripture God has chosen to reveal the glory of the Triune God through the person and work of Jesus Christ. The Revelation of God in and through Jesus Christ is the interpretive fulcrum for all of Scripture. This summary intends to present an example of biblical theology in which the themes of Creation, Consummation, Corruption, Covenant, and Church find their meaning and significance in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

There are important biblical themes that need to be studied and preached through the lens of biblical theology. John does an excellent job of taking some of these themes and concisely showing how they unfold through redemptive history, pointing to Christ. I would recommend this book to anyone, particularly to students who are learning to preach, as a primer in understanding how the text on which they are preaching needs be understood in light of the whole Bible.

John has done a service for God’s people in writing an accessible survey of biblical themes. These themes capture the stream of redemptive history throughout Scripture. Our eyes are directed toward the all-sufficient Christ and to the gospel as the remedy for the corruption which entered our world through our first parents. We are reminded that God will unfailingly bring all things to his desired end for the good of his people and the glory of his name.
