J. Vernon McGee (1904–1988) was an ordained Presbyterian minister, theologian, and radio minister. He earned degrees from Southwestern University, Columbia Theological seminary, and Dallas Theological Seminary.
McGee was pastor of the historic Church of the Open Door in downtown Los Angeles from 1949–1970. He also served as chairman of the Bible department at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (currently Biola University) and lectured several times at Dallas Theological Seminary.
In 1967, McGee started his popular Thru the Bible radio series and soon it was broadcast on over 400 channels in North America. The radio broadcasts of the Thru the Bible radio program were transcribed, edited, and published in the Thru the Bible Commentary series. Other titles by McGee include David: A Man after God’s Own Heart, J. Vernon McGee on Prayer, Jesus: Centerpiece of Scripture, Living by Faith, and more.

It should be noted in the product description, and many may be unaware, that this set is the unabridged version. As I understand it, it has thousands more pages than the $40 offerings on other sites. Vote for this set to be included in the March madness, so we can get it at a discount!

This has become my go to commentary for a complete Bible study. I am very happy to have bought the 60 volumes on Logos. Logos has the 60-volume set (11,148 pages), someone mentioned buying the e-sword version to save money, but that platform has the 5-volume set (1088 pages). This is not a valid comparison, buy from Logos if you want the complete commentary and not a summary. I have both and use them for different purposes. There is also a Volume 6 Complete Index to the 5-volume set which can be used with this 60-volume set by looking up the Scripture references in with each topical description to search for a subject. I like to buy used copies of the paper indexes of these large volume electronic book sets to flip through. The index volume is not normally available in the eBook versions because the software makes an index unnecessary. My brain still likes to flip through paper indexes.Tyler Marzett

Bendiciones. Tengo más de 35 años que El Señor Jesucristo me salvo. Me gusta estudiar la Biblia, siempre estoy consultando comentarios y escritos Bíblicos, y este es el más completo que jamás he encontrado cuando se trata de estudiar toda la biblia y hacerles frente a pasajes difíciles he interpretación. Siempre se comprueba la Biblia con la Biblia. Cuando el Señor me Salvo, quise conocer su Palabra de inmediato, nunca fui a un instituto Bíblico, pero el Señor en su misericordia me guio a escuchar este programa en la radio. It would be really cool if we had the audio to go along with the searchable and linked text. Since it was a radio broadcast this should be doable. I loved so much listening to him over the years. What a unique voice too!
