Digital Logos Edition
Reflecting the diversity yet richness of the global church, these three volumes edited by renowned New Testament scholar D.A. Carson bring together essays from evangelical church leaders around the world to examine in detail three essential Christian doctrines: what it means to be right with God (justification), prayer, and worship. Many of the contributors seek to show what bearing each doctrine has on the proclamation of the gospel and Christian living in their own cultures. Beyond merely academic, the ultimate goal of these volumes is to fuel the Christian’s service of the church for the glory of the Head of the church.
Right With God: Justification in the Bible and the World covers the Bible’s teaching on justification and addresses other important topics such as Christian living and social justice. Its focus is on how the doctrine of justification ought to work out in a variety of contexts around the world. Teach Us to Pray contains a detailed analysis of the biblical theology of prayer, a survey of spirituality in various religions, and lessons in prayer from the worldwide church concluded with personal insights from some key leaders. Worship: Adoration and Action avoids a merely mechanical and pragmatic approach to worship and instead covers the biblical and systematic theology of worship, the heritage of the Reformers, and contemporary free church worship.
Originally written for the World Evangelical Fellowship’s Theological Commission, these were the products of international consultations that brought together evangelical leaders from various parts of the world. Editor D.A. Carson has remarked that considerable unity was achieved as the essays written for these volumes came together.

With the reflections of an international cast of evangelical scholars, Right With God is a study of what the Bible has to say about justification, along with reflections as to how this teaching ought to work out in a variety of contexts, around the world.
In addition to the essays on how particular books of the Bible present salvation the book includes an essay assessing recent thought on justification, and another attempting to put together a synthesis of biblical perspectives on this important theme. One chapter relates justification and personal Christian living; another weighs the relationship between justification and social justice; yet another evaluates the treatment of justification in Roman Catholicism and in various interfaith dialogues.
In almost 500 years of evangelical praying, there has never been a book like this. Teach Us to Pray is in effect four books in one. It begins with a detailed analysis of the biblical theology of prayer, surveying each part of the Scriptures. Next comes an investigation of prayer and spirituality within Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, historic Christianity (Puritanism) and a different Christian contemporary tradition (Roman Catholicism). In addition, expert commentators offer “Lessons in Prayer from the Worldwide Church,” featuring thoughts from the Korean, Chinese, Latin American and African church. Finally a group of Christian leaders write about prayer in their individual experience, adding a personal dimension to this comprehensive book. This is a full library on the subject of prayer, conserving the best insights of the past and breaking new ground with penetrating original thinking.
Anxious that current interest in and discussion of worship are too much preoccupied with mere mechanics, D.A. Carson joined with an international group of scholars to produce this important volume.
First, a biblical theology of worship is explored by Japanese theologian Yoshiaki Hattori, and the Australian scholar, David Peterson. From this foundation, there follow reflections upon the practice of worship in nine different contexts: denominational, cultural, and the charismatic-pentecostal movement. In the final part, Croatian theologian Miroslav Volf concludes that worship is “the outworking of God-centredness in individual and corporate experience”.
The opinions expressed, although at times in disagreement with one another, are an indication of the wealth of diversity within the worldwide church.
