Digital Logos Edition
Introduction to Pentecostal Doctrine provides an examination of the four cardinal doctrines of the Assemblies of God: salvation, baptism in the Holy Spirit, healing, and the second Coming of Christ. After an introductory unit on the importance of doctrine, there is a unit of study on each of the doctrines. This textbook is essential to the further understanding of the complete Pentecostal message as presented in courses at the Berean School of the Bible.
This course may be taken for credit by enrolling with the Berean School of the Bible. For enrollment information, please call 1-800-443-1083.
“Doctrine literally means ‘something taught’ or ‘teaching and instruction.’ Bible doctrine is a framework of fundamental biblical truths arranged in a systematic form.” (Page 15)
“Doctrine literally means ‘teaching or instruction.’ Theology means ‘the study of God’ or our understanding of God and His relations with humankind.” (Page 17)
“Four of these were identified as the Foundational (or Cardinal) Doctrines. Jesus is (1) our Savior, (2) our Baptizer in the Holy Spirit, (3) our Healer, and (4) our soon returning King. In this course, these four points are treated as the doctrines of (1) Salvation, (2) Baptism in the Holy Spirit, (3) Divine Healing, and (4) the Second Coming of Christ.” (Page 10)
“‘There are three basic kinds of religious authority: (1) human reason, (2) the church, and (3) God’s Word.’” (Page 13)
“One possible distinction is that theology is the thought of individuals, while doctrine is the recognized thought of a church.” (Page 17)
