Logos has developed a migration tool to help Wordsearch customers import their notes, highlights, bookmarks, and other documents from Wordsearch to Logos. As support winds down for Wordsearch, we encourage Wordsearch users to walk through this process if you haven't done so already.

Note: this tool only imports documents from the Wordsearch desktop app.

FAQS

How will my Wordsearch data look in Logos?

Notes and Highlights

Bible notes, personal notes, NoteStacks, and highlights will all be imported to Logos's Notes Tool, each in a respectively titled notebook (e.g., "WS Personal Notes"). Bible reference anchors and highlight text positions will be retained. Basic text formatting will be retained (bold, italic, underline, font size, etc.); some font faces, colors, and other formatting may be lost where they can't be matched to styles in Logos.

Favorites and Bookmarks

Your Wordsearch Favorites will appear in Logos’s Favorites Tool in a folder titled “WS Favorites.”

Collections

You’ll find your book collections in the Collections Tool, and listed in the left sidebar of the Library. Each migrated collection title is prefixed with “WS.”

Verse Lists

Wordsearch’s Verse Lists have the ability to annotate verses, which doesn’t yet exist in Logos. We hope to add this feature in Logos Passage Lists in the future. In the meantime, we have imported Verse Lists as Passage Lists; and where a Verse List item includes annotations, it will also be imported to Logos as a note anchored to the verse. Now that the work has been completed, you do not need to re-upload your backup in order to see this addition.

To be clear, any notes within Wordsearch’s Verse Lists area are not going to be imported. Also, Logos will not preserve the Bible version used by each verse if multiple Bible versions are used in a single verse list.

User Books, Sermons and Illustrations, and other Wordsearch document types

We are still deciding how to handle these document types. Your feedback on which document types are the most important for us to focus next is appreciated.

Will my files be safe?

When you upload your Wordsearch data, we’ll store the original data in your Faithlife account and convert each kind of document over to the Logos equivalent. As we implement migration for more types of content (Collections, Verse Lists, etc.), your data will automatically begin to show up in Logos without you having to upload it again

What if I’m still creating new content in Wordsearch? Can I add more to Logos later?

You can always add a newer backup. New notes and other data will be added to what has already been imported to Logos; items that have been edited or deleted in Wordsearch will be updated in Logos.

How to migrate your Wordsearch documents to Logos

Create a backup of your Wordsearch documents

Back up your Wordsearch data under "Options > Backup..." and save the file to your computer.

On the following screen, select all of the options except for “Unlock Information.”

You can find more detailed backup instructions at:
https://office.wordsearchbible.com/help/12/en/index.html?backup.htm

Upload your backup file to the import site

  1. Visit https://wordsearchapi.faithlife.com/v1/home.
  2. Confirm that you are signed into your Faithlife account with the same email address you use for Logos.
  3. Click “Choose File” to open the file browser.
  4. Navigate to your Wordsearch backup file (this is typically in the folder Documents\WORDsearch Backups\WORDsearch 12).
  5. Select the newest zipfile (usually with a filename like ws12b_03092021-1.zip), and click Open.
  6. Click the Upload button.

Wait for your Wordsearch data to import

After the upload completes, work will begin on the server to migrate your data over to Logos.

If you have a lot of Wordsearch data, this may take a long time. It won’t have any estimate of time remaining, but the time elapsed indicates that it is still actively working on it.
